Albania is a very small but fun country in south eastern Europe, fairly close to Kosovo. Albania is one of the less often visited Mediterranean countries but that is slowly changing as more tourists realise its fantastic attractions. Without a doubt Albania has extraordinary, clean sandy beaches, almost virgin mountain regions, and bustling, improving cities.
Albania’s sandy beaches are beautiful. These are generally white, sandy beaches although there are a dozen or so pebble beaches too. You could if you like have fun in the warm dry sun on a blanket or rent a bed, the choice is yours. A lot of the beaches are virtually untouched by tourists and a few are so out of the way that you could possibly have the beach pretty much to yourself, even in spring and summer.
There are many mountain places in Albania. The mountainous areas in the north are amazing for skiing or hiking and you can also visit many waterfalls and fabulous lakes in that part of the country. Those mountains are brilliant to visit but the other mountain regions are also great.
Albanian cities are vibrant with a cafe culture meaning there are huge numbers of local cafes to hang out in. Albania cities such as Vlora are worth taking the time to visit to see the historic old city area and possibly to visit a museum or two.
People from Albania are mostly welcoming and will be more than happy to introduce you to their country if you are there.
